Small but MIGHTY
Stuck. Sick. Overwhelmed. Unmotivated. And yet — you somehow know every single health hack that could get you well.
You've been feeling off for days, weeks, months, maybe years. You've read the books, listened to the podcasts, collected 18,473 ways to feel better. And still, you're paralyzed.
This is the modern friction between knowledge and action. It shows up everywhere in health and wellness, and I see it every single day with clients. Honestly? Even I fall into this trap — and I live, eat, and breathe this stuff.
So how do we focus and actually get started — whether it's for the first time or after a long stretch away from healthy habits?
Here’s what I’ve learned:
Start with one small step, and when I say small, I mean small.
Drink a glass of water in the morning. (Not necessarily first thing — just sometime in the A.M.)
Set a timer for one minute, close your eyes, and breathe. No program, no affirmations, no instructions. Just one quiet minute.
Before a meal, cut a slice of lemon, lime, or any citrus you love — and just smell it. That's it.
Keep a cool washcloth infused with essential oils in the fridge. Drape it over your face and neck in the morning, when you get home from work, between meetings, or in the chaos of shuttling kids around.
That last one is my current favorite.
These aren't just feel-good tricks. They're small but MIGHTY entry points — ones that quietly re-engage the neural pathways of self-care you thought you'd lost. There's real science behind why this works but explaining it would honestly undercut the message.
The message is this: pick one thing and just begin. Don't analyze it. Don't wait until you're ready to overhaul everything. As my dad says, “don't let perfect be the enemy of good.”
Celebrate the small thing. It's not nothing — it's the whole point. 😉
My current small but mighty thing:
The fridge washcloth — cooling, invigorating, and takes about 30 seconds to make.
Choose your oil (eucalyptus, lemon, rosemary — whatever calls to you). Wet a washcloth with cold water, add 5–8 drops of oil, fold it in half and rub to distribute the oil, then roll it up and tuck it in the fridge. That's it. Go find it when you need a reset.
